Police say a 75-year-old man working at a car wash in Wilmington was critically injured after he was hit by a van driven by another employee.

The unidentified victim was rushed to Christiana Hospital in Newark.

The accident happened around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Magic Car Wash on Naamans Road. State police say 33-year-old Tina Lopez was pulling a van out of a wash bay. Lopez told police that the vehicle lurched into gear and struck the 75-year-old man, then rear-ended an SUV that he was drying off. The force of the impact caused the SUV to travel across Naamans Road and come to rest in a convenience store parking lot.

Police say Lopez has been cited for inattentive driving.
