Police: Woman dead in Kensington was not strangled

KENSINGTON - December 27, 2010

The woman, 25-year-old Crystal Dawejko, was discovered inside a home in the 2800 block of C Street shortly after 3:00 p.m. on Friday.

On Monday, police said Dawejko's body had no signs of trauma or strangulation, but the exact cause of death is pending results of toxicology tests.

Her death had stoked fears that the so-called "Kensington Strangler" had struck again.

The deaths of three women have been linked to the Strangler.

The body of 27-year-old Casey Mahoney was found earlier this month in a wooded area on the 100 block of Tusculum. DNA evidence linked her death to those of 21-year-old Elaine Goldberg and 35-year-old Nicole Piacentini who were killed in November.
