Spokesman John Anderson said crews hoped to restore power to nearly everyone by about midnight.
PSE&G reported 500 customers without power at 8 p.m. Monday.
Atlantic City Electric reported fewer than 100 customers without service. Spokeswoman Bridget Shelton said that's down from about 4,000 earlier Monday.
