Police say the shooting happened on Voshell Mill Star Hill Road in Dover about 8:30 p.m. Sunday. They say one of the people arguing with the victim pulled out a gun and fired several times, hitting him in the chest.
The man and woman then fled in a white 2003 Lincoln Town Car, which they abandoned in the area of Lingo Drive in Dover. Detectives are trying to determine who owns the car, but believe it was initially being driven by the victim.
The 35-year-old victim was taken to a hospital where he was listed in critical condition.
