At approximately 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, Middle Township Police received multiple 911 calls of a single car, motor vehicle crash, on Avalon Boulevard in the Swainton section of the township.
Police arrived on scene to find an elderly female unconscious and unresponsive inside a white colored Honda Civic.
Through the course of the investigation it was learned that the driver, Marie J. Ferrell, 92, of Avalon, was driving east on Avalon Boulevard, when her vehicle went into the westbound lane, flipped over, before landing right side up in the meadow.
Middle Township Recue performed CPR on the driver, who was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center. Ferrell was later transported via helicopter to Atlantic Care Medical Center in Atlantic City where she later died.
The crash is under investigation.
