At approximately 4:51 p.m. Tuesday, Wilmington police were dispatched to the Port of Wilmington regarding a human skull that was discovered on the shore of the Delaware River.
Earlier in the day, a boater spotted the skull approximately 300 yards south of the Port of Wilmington.
The skull appeared to be in the water for an extended period of time.
Wilmington detectives responded as well as the Medical Examiner's Officer who recovered the skull from the scene.
The investigation is continuing.
