Shots erupted early Saturday morning, on the 3200 block of North G Street in Philadelphia's Kensington neighborhood.
Bullets riddled the car, wounding a passenger.
A short time later, the driver crashed into a utility pole outside P.H. Sheridan Elementary School.
The passenger in the rear seat of the car was shot once in the chest and is listed in serious condition at Temple University Hospital.
No one else was reported hurt in the incident.
Police have not announced an arrest, or a motive for the shooting.
