Center City restaurants offer savings

CENTER CITY - Jan. 14, 2011

That's because Sunday is the start of Philadelphia's Restaurant Week, when 125 participating eateries are offering discounted menu choices.

Michelle Shannon of the Center City District explains, "We have 125 restaurants that are signed up for dinner. And at dinner, we offer a three-course meal for $35 -- not including tax, tip or alcohol. Then for lunch, same thing, three courses for $20, we have 55 restaurants lined up for that."

The specials run from the January 16 to 21, 2011, and then from January 23 to 28, 2011.

R2L is using the promotion to launch its new lunch menu.

Restaurant Manager Chris Digennaro explains, "It's a great way to expose ourself to all kinds of different guests that we're not normally getting. They can give us a try and not take as big a hit in their pocketbook."

Other participating restaurants include Le Bec Fin, Buddakan, Capital Grille and Cuba Libre. Basically, if the restaurant is in Center city and you've heard of it, it's on the list.

Shannon adds, "The restaurants are required to give at least a $50 value for the $35 price point. So people really are getting something above and beyond."

In addition to the discounted dining, you can take advantage of discounted parking ($9 or less) during Restaurant Week. For all the information on participating restaurants and garages and to make reservations, click here.
