Former IRS agent pleads guilty to tax fraud

WILMINGTON, Del. - January 12, 2011

Federal prosecutor Ilana Eisenstein says Ronald Bright of Wilmington faces up to three years in jail and a fine of up to $100,000 when he is sentenced. A sentencing date has not yet been scheduled.

An investigation found that he routinely included false deductions and credits on his clients' tax forms. Prosecutors also said he falsely reported married taxpayers as single or as a head of the household for higher deductions.

U.S. Attorney Charles Oberly III says the investigation stopped Bright from "causing taxpayers additional losses."
