The body of Murray Seidman was found inside his home by a friend in the Ath-Dara Apartments at 83 S. Lansdowne Avenue around 4:00 p.m. Wednesday.
An autopsy on Thursday revealed Seidman was beaten to death.
Police say he was dead some five to ten days before he was found.
Neighbors say the Ath-Dara complex is normally a quiet place where people keep to themselves. One man said he couldn't believe the news that someone had been murdered there.
"I saw a bunch of cop cars over here yesterday. I was wondering what was going on," said Kile Bayle. "I thought maybe someone got stuff stolen or something."
There is no word yet on a suspect or a motive in this crime. There was also no word on if anything was missing from Seidman's apartment.
