A basement sale for the serious fashionista

PHILADELPHIA - January 19, 2011

Inside the basement of 1616 Walnut Street there are some of the greatest deals ever. It is the Joan Shepp Bi-annual Basement Sale.

"We have shoes, clothes, stockings and bags. This is bargain city down here," said Joan Shepp.

We do warn you - this isn't your typical Saving with 6abc, after all, this legendary Center City boutique features mainly cutting-edge, luxury labels at prices that make these coveted items inaccessible to many people.

But for a limited time, these designer fashions are marked down big time! In fact, the discounts are so deep; they're a little painful for Joan Shepp herself.

"It seriously hurts. When I look at those prices, I have to wait outside the door," said Shepp.

One jacket is more than 75% off. A ruffled pink dress is marked down from $1,484 to just $99.

And everything on one rack is $100 or less, and on another rack $50 or less. A shirt that used to be $78 is now $20.

You'll see Wolford leggings and bodysuits discounted to $47 from the original price of $190.

A Sonia Rykiel jacket and Charles Chang skirt both marked down from $100. And a gorgeous top from a cutting-edge French designer marked down from $680 down to $75.

The sale is continuing through Saturday, which means Thursday, Friday and Saturday, you can come to the basement from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
