Streets Dept.: Ped. overpass not hit in NE Philadelphia

NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA - January 24, 2011

The Roosevelt Boulevard pedestrian overpass located at Strahle Street and Solly Avenue was believed to have been hit overnight.

However, the Streets Dept. said late Monday afternoon that the structure is sound and safe.

An inspector went out to this location and saw no evidence of damage either to the bridge or from any vehicle passing beneath it.

That inspection came after a Philadelphia Police officer noticed what he thought was damage.

As a precautionary measure in the interest of public safety, the officer had the road temporarily closed.
