It happened around 12:00 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of the highway near the Hellertown interchange in Lower Saucon Twp.
Police say a man from Hellertown was killed when the car he was driving westbound crossed the median and hit a vehicle in the eastbound lane head-on. His car then spun around and hit a third vehicle.
The driver of the westbound car, who has not yet been identified, was killed. Police say he was not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the eastbound car, 35-year-old Victoria Genteel of Bangor, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
There were no injuries in the third vehicle.
