A DelDOT report on budget scenarios released Monday shows that such a shortfall could happen if lawmakers decline to shift unclaimed assets known as escheats to the Transportation Trust Fund.
Gov. Jack Markell is looking into using those assets as a possible source for a proposed new Infrastructure Trust Fund to support economic development initiatives.
Long range budget estimates show transportation shortfalls growing to $140 million or more by 2016.
