Workers evacuated after NJ chemical spill

PENNSVILLE, N.J. - February 1, 2011

It happened at Siegfried Chemical Company on Industrial Park Road.

Rescuers were dispatched around 12:30 p.m. A spokesperson for Siegfried says there was a release of a chemical inside a building, but was not yet certain exactly which chemical was released.

The chemical was contained inside the building and the three employees inside the building were evacuated.

One of those employees was transported to an area hospital for observation. The details of what symptoms that employee experienced were not released.

The spokesperson says one employee was working on the manufacturing process and two others in the building were maintenance employees.

According to the spokesperson no chemical escaped outside the building.

Siegfried's own response team is on location working on the incident.
