Car flips on I-495 in Wilmington; woman injured

WILMINGTON, Del. - February 2, 2011

The accident happened shortly before 8:00 a.m. when the driver struck the concrete median and then flipped several times. The vehicle then rolled across the southbound lanes and came to a stop on the shoulder.

The 28-year-old female driver was transported to Christiana Hospital with internal injuries.

All lanes of I-495 south were briefly closed as rescue crews respond to the scene. Police then kept one lane closed for about 1/2 hour.

Traffic has since reopened.

No word on if ice was a factor in the crash.
