Delaware State Police are investigating an accident that appears to have been caused by black ice.

The crash happened around 8:30 a.m. Thursday on Montchanin Road at Summit Lane in Montchanin.

Police say David Mulvena, 26, of Wilmingtong was driving his Chevy TrailBlazer southbound on Montchanin Road when he lost control on the patch of ice.

His SUV crossed into the northbound lane and struck the front of a GMC Envoy, driven by Valery Doubet.

Doubet was transported by a privately owned vehicle to the Christiana Hospital where she was treated for non life threatening injuries. Mulvena was transported from the scene by EMS to the Christiana Hospital where he was also treated for non life threatening injuries.

David Mulvena was cited by troopers for careless driving.
