Bruno Mars appears in Vegas court on cocaine plea

LAS VEGAS (AP) - February 4, 2011

The 25-year-old Grammy nominee and his lawyers appeared Friday before a Las Vegas justice of the peace to waive an evidentiary hearing and set a Feb. 14 plea date in state court.

Mars' real name is Peter Hernandez. The deal is for him to plead guilty as a first offender in Clark County court to a charge that will be dismissed if he stays out of trouble for a year, completes community service and drug counseling, and pays a $2,000 fine.

The "Just the Way You Are" singer was arrested in September with 2.6 grams of cocaine after a Las Vegas nightclub performance.
