Sons accused of stabbing mother in Vineland

VINELAND, N.J. - February 4, 2011

Investigators say Carol Nicholson, 51, called 911 around 10:00 p.m. on Thursday and reported she had been stabbed.

When officers arrived at the home on Adler Lane they saw a vehicle leaving the home and gave chase. It eventually ended near the intersection of Highland Avenue and Landis Avenue.

Nicholson's two sons, 22-year-old David Stone and his 12-year-old brother, were in the car and arrested.

Nicholson was flown to Atlantic City Medical Center for treatment of her injuries.

David Stone was lodged in Cumberland County Jail on charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault and weapons offenses. Bail was set at $500,000 full cash.

His brother was also charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault and weapons offenses and was sent to the Cumberland County Juvenile Detention Center.

A joint investigation by the Vineland Police Department and the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office is ongoing.
