The gunfire rang out near 9th Street and Kerlin Street.
Chester Police say officers on patrol in the area of 7th and Kerlin Street saw gunfire coming from a GMC Yukon.
Officers began chasing the vehicle. The occupants fled the Yukon and ran through several yards.
During the pursuit, Chester police say an officer shot a 21 year old suspect. A police release did not say what provoked the shooting.
The wounded suspect is hospitalized and awaiting charges. No other arrests have been reported
