Family of former marine seeks help finding his murderers

PHILADELPHIA - February 5, 2011

"He was executed, assassinated," said Lena Plummer.

Lena Plummer is an angry mom on a mission, to find the person who murdered her son.

Solomon Plummer, known to family and friends as "Big Daddy" was the father of five, a former marine and the recipient of a Liberty Bell award for heroism after he broke up a robbery.

In the summer of 2007, he opened his own bar in the 3200 block of West York Street in Strawberry Mansion.

October 3rd, 2007, he was found dead there, just after 10 pm.

"They shot him in the back of the head. Did they stand there and watch him expire? Did he ask for his mother? His family would have been down there to help him," said Plummer.

His family says nothing was taken and there was no sign of forced entry. That's why they believe the former marine, knew his assailant.

"He had to be closed to Big Daddy, and that tells the world what kind of person this shooter is," said Plummer.

That's why the family and the Citizens Crime Commission are asking for your help.

"We want to solve this crime," said John Apeldorn. "Call the Commission at 215-546-TIPS. We have a $1,500 reward for you. That's cash on the barrel."

And an emotional plea from Solomon Plummer's mother, "Y'all know who did it, and y'all need to turn him in," said Plummer. "You know who you are. You know who did this."

Anyone with information is asked to make the anonymous call, 215-546-Tips.
