Del. police plan Super Bowl sobriety checkpoints

DOVER, Del. - February 6, 2011

Alison Kirk of the state Office of Highway Safety says the state's Checkpoint Strikeforce will be rounding up impaired drivers who had too much to drink while watching Sunday's big game.

Delaware State Police and 15 other local police agencies will operate DUI saturation patrols throughout the state.

In New Castle County, the DUI Task Force will conduct several sobriety checkpoints between 6 p.m. and 2 a.m. in Wilmington.

A first-time DUI conviction includes the loss of driver's license, a possible six days to six months behind bars, and fines of up to $1,500, plus mandatory participation in an alcohol education and/or treatment program
