Mrs. Fixit: Speed Cleaning

March 20, 2011

If you think that you don't have the time to clean your closet or the kitchen or the junk drawer, set yourself a timer.

Give yourself fifteen minutes or a half an hour or an hour. Whatever time you've set for yourself stick to it, do the job until the timer is up and then move on. You'll be amazed at how much you can get done in that time and you'll stay focused because you know you're on a limited schedule.

Clean the dishes as you use them. It's easy to put a glass into the sink and that turns into two glasses and then a bowl and then a sink full of dishes.

If you and your family take an extra minute or two when you're done with a dish to wash it or to put it into the dishwasher you'll won't be faced with a pile of dirty dishes.

When you're cleaning a room, rather than walking back and forth across the room a hundred times, start in one corner and work yourself clockwise around the room. This gives you a start and end point and keeps you focused as you work.

I hope these ideas help you speed through your cleaning chores! I'm Mrs. Fixit and it's just that simple!
