Salvation Army sells ring left by Georgia couple

DALTON, Ga. (AP) - February 9, 2011

They say an unidentified couple approached bell ringers on Dec. 22 outside a grocery store in Calhoun in northern Georgia and left the ring.

The couple also left a Christmas card with a note on the back saying they were still deeply in love and thought the Salvation Army could make better use of the ring than they could. The card said "All for Jesus."

The ring is now on sale at a downtown Dalton jewelry store, where sealed bids are being taken for the next 30 days. The ring will then be sold to the highest bidder, with money going to support the Salvation Army's services.
