Jimmy Rollins always good for bold prediction

CLEARWATER, Florida - February 19, 2011

It is a contract year for Jimmy, and he says he's going to be a Phillie for life if he has a good season.

He is not worried, but he was asked how does he feel going into a season when things just are not guaranteed?

"It's guaranteed I'm going to play baseball," says Jimmy Rollins. "That's a guarantee. That's the only thing that is guaranteed, long as I'm healthy and living."

Healthy is a key word in that guarantee.

Last year, Jimmy Rollins played a career low 88 games, hampered by a nagging calf injury. He's turned to an off season conditioning program of yoga and twice weekly distance runs, put together by his wife Johari, who is a trainer.

"They say you feel good when you're done, and you do. You feel like you've accomplished something, but you still wonder why people really like yoga," said Rollins.

If it prevents injuries, Rollins will be a believer. He already feels like his contract situation will work itself out. No pressure going into a must produce season.

"I think it is pressure if you are on your last leg and not sure if you're going to have a job the following year, that's pressure," Rollins said. "I still got, you know, 7 or 8 years left."

And he plans on spending all of them with the team that drafted him as a 17 year old.

And the Phillies most famous Nostradamus is also still in the prediction business.

When asked if the Phillies would win 100 games this season, Rollins said, "Yeah, we'll win 100 games. I really plan on going after, who is it? I know Seattle won 114 or something recently, and I know the record is probably a little more than that, but we'll go get something hopefully in that range," said Rollins.

The major league record for wins in a 162-game season is actually 116, and it was set by the Seattle Mariners back in 2001.

And we know Jimmy usually puts his money where his mouth is, so this should be exciting.
