Police ID 2 victims of 3 Saturday murders

PHILADELPHIA - February 20, 2011

Sean Flanagan, 32, is dead after an incident along the 9800 block of Bustleton Avenue, less than a half block from the seventh police district station.

The incident took place at around 3:17 a.m.

Police say Flanagan pulled a revolver and fired one time at a security guard. That security guard tried to dis-arm Flanagan and then opened fire, striking him in the chest. Medics rushed him to the hospital, but he died at about 4:15 a.m Saturday.

There are no charges against the security guard.

Another shooting took place inside at around 1:30 a.m. a bar in South Philadelphia. Police say three masked men with guns tried to hold up Scotty's Bar on the 1400 block of Ellsworth Street in Point Breeze.

During the attempted robbery, one of the suspects shot two men. A young man shot in the chest was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. He is identified as 31-year-old Mikal Grant. The other victim is still hospitalized.

Police have not announced any arrests.

Ten minutes later, police responded to a shooting at J and J Lounge, on the 4600 block of Hawthorne Street in Frankford.

They found a man shot in the chest. He died a short time later.

Police have not captured the killer. Investigators say they are interviewing some witnesses to the murder.
