King of Prussia intersection re-opens

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. - February 22, 2011

It all began when a tractor-trailer ran into the traffic light around 10:20 a.m. at the intersection of 202 and South Gulph Road.

The impact caused the light to come down, with a piece falling through the windshield of a passing pickup truck. The driver of that pickup was not hurt.

The driver of the tractor trailer, Legesse A. Tamerat from Fairburn, Georgia, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The accident is still under investigation by the Upper Merion Township Police Traffic Safety Unit, but preliminary indications are that faulty equipment on the tractor may have contributed to the accident.

Some lanes of 202 and the intersection with Gulph Road were closed, but everything re-opened by Tuesday evening.

Coincidentally, this is the same area closed by a huge sinkhole earlier this month.
