The accident occurred around 10:00 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-95 near Washington Avenue.
Multiple people were injured when the truck rear ended the van.
The driver, along with the 7 mentally handicapped passengers in the van, were rescued from the vehicle and transported to area hospitals. All patients are reported to be in stable condition.
Authorities are investigating the box truck that hit the van to see if there were existing violations on the truck that may have caused the accident.
