Ex- Pa. pastor charged in $111K bad check scheme

NORRISTOWN, Pa. - February 23, 2011

Forty-five-year-old Michael Wilkerson Sr. is in prison awaiting trial next month in Montgomery County. He is charged with writing a bad check for $111,000 for a Mercedes Benz from a Whitemarsh dealership in September 2009.

Wilkerson founded the Freedom Christian Deliverance Center in Pottstown and was an evangelist on local cable television.

He faces up to seven years in state prison if convicted of the felony bad check charge.

Wilkerson served three years in prison on theft- and forgery-related charges for duping contractors out of thousands of dollars who were building his planned Berks County mansion. He was paroled in 2005.
