Ex-teacher arrested for Delco burglaries

RIDLEY, Pa. - February 23, 2011

Michael Innaurato, who used to teach 4th grade at Amosland Elementary, was being sought for a number of burglaries including one at his own father's home in Swarthmore.

He was arrested after a traffic stop Wednesday morning in Evesham, New Jersey. Police say, during his arrest, he was found to be in possession of a .45 caliber handgun that was reported stolen.

Police say Innaurato stole $6,000 in cash from his father, along with diamond earrings and several checks were he allegedly forged for thousands of dollars.

A gun and ammunition were also taken, police said.

Innaurato is wanted for at least five other home burglaries in Delaware County - three in Ridley Township, one in Aston and Rutledge, and another in Haverford Township.

The victims were either family members, acquaintances, or friends or ex-girlfriends of Innaurato, police said.

Investigators say gambling and drugs were likely fueling Innaurato's crimes. They say he likes to frequent Harrah's Casino in Chester and he also likes cocaine.

It's unclear how long he taught there. He left his job back in April.
