The 12th District officers were on patrol about 1:00 Sunday morning near 68th Street and Woodlawn Avenue, when another vehicle ran a red light and broadsided their police SUV.
The police SUV went through a fence, took down a traffic light, slammed into a parked car and ended up on the lawn of a home.
The officers had to be freed from their vehicle by firefighters.
All 3 men in the other car fled on foot, but one was nabbed in a nearby alleyway.
Action News was at the Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania when the 27-year-old officer driving the police SUV arrived for treatment of a broken jaw, a broken leg and internal injuries. She's in serious condition.
The other officer, a male in his 30s, is in stable condition with a concussion.
