Prosecutor: Office manager took $2.2M from NJ firm

WOODBURY, N.J. (AP) - March 5, 2011

Joanne Bittner-Lieze of Deptford turned herself in Friday and was charged with second-degree theft. She was released later that night after posting $75,000 bail.

Gloucester County prosecutors say Bittner-Lieze was fired last May from Franklin Township-based GMAC Construction after company officials found that tens of thousands of dollars in unauthorized charges had been made on company credit cards. She had worked there for about 10 years.

A subsequent investigation uncovered several unauthorized payments that Bittner-Lieze allegedly made to her husband's recycling firm between 2002 and 2010.

Her attorney, John Eastlack, says his client maintains her innocence.
