Police: Limo passenger went on robbery spree

BEAR, Del. - March 7, 2011

Frank L. Long, Jr., 24, of Bear, Delaware faces 2 counts of robbery.

Police say at about 6:20 p.m. Long stopped at the Express Food Mart along the 700 block of Pulaski Highway in Bear, displayed a silver handgun and demanded money from the cash register. He ran out of the store after getting the cash.

Then, about 10 minutes later, police say Long entered the Smoker's Corner store on the 1200 block of New Churchman's Road in Newark, approached the 48-year-old male employee, asked for cigarettes then pulled a silver handgun and demanded cash from the register. The clerk complied and turned over an undisclosed amount of money to the suspect. The suspect then fled with the money and cigarettes and was seen getting into the rear seat of a white vehicle which drove off.

Police figured out it was a limousine and tracked it to the Red Roof Inn on Churchman's Road in Newark. Troopers responded to the motel where they took Long into custody without incident. Detectives also found at the motel and in a wooded area adjacent to the motel some evidence linking Long to the robberies.
