Since 2007, someone has been adorning two huge pine trees by the side of the Garden State Parkway in Ocean County's Little Egg Harbor with Christmas ornaments each December.
By Tuesday, both trees had been cut down as part of a project to widen the parkway from two to three lanes between Toms River and Atlantic City.
No one ever took responsibility for decorating the trees, which had been located just south of Exit 58 in the southbound lanes.
