It happened on Route 30 at Delilah Road around 8:00 a.m.
Police say 63-year-old Lawrence Lee Jr. of Atlantic City was driving his pick-up truck west on Route 30 when he lost control of his vehicle.
The pick-up went off the road and hit a billboard.
Lee, a retired member of the Atlantic City police force, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Absecon Police are investigating.
