Federal sex harassment suit vs. ex-PHA head tossed

PHILADELPHIA - March 16, 2011

A federal judge tossed the lawsuit against former PHA executive director Carl Greene on Monday. The lawsuit had claimed Greene violated the plaintiff's civil rights by making several unwanted advances toward her. The woman claimed Greene retaliated by transferring her before she resigned in 2008.

Greene was fired last year. The authority's board claimed he used about $900,000 in public money to settle several sexual harassment allegations.

Greene's attorney tells The Philadelphia Inquirer there was little legal or factual basis for the claim. The woman's attorney says she's considering an appeal.

A PHA spokeswoman says the suit tried to take advantage of the agency's "weakened position."
