Murder charges filed in missing Bucks woman case

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - March 16, 2011

/*Kenneth Patterson*/, 48, was arraigned on Wednesday via video and remains held without bail. A preliminary hearing is set for Monday.

Patterson is charged with the murder of 57-year-old /*Diane Corado*/, whose body has not been found.

Corado has been missing since she and a friend were kidnapped from her Levittown home back in December. The friend was later released, while police found Corado's blood-stained car and Patterson later that day in New Jersey.

Bucks County District Attorney David Heckler previously said he intends to seek the death penalty. He said it was a "strong circumstantial case."

Patterson was taken into custody at the Clover Motel on Route 73 in Maple Shade, New Jersey, the night of the December 19th kidnapping.

Police say Patterson kidnapped Corado after kicking down her door at her apartment in the 9000 block of Mill Creek Road in Falls Township, Bucks County between 5:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.

Police described what happened by saying, "[Patterson] allegedly broke into the apartment, took the victim forcibly, threatened her with a knife and assaulted her with a pipe."

He then allegedly forced Corado and her friend into Corado's black Pontiac Aztek. Police say he let the friend go a short distance from the apartment but took Corado against her will.

Kenneth Patterson has a long criminal history according to police and a history of problems with Corado. The two dated for five years, but it is unclear when they broke up.
