Fire at South Philly Sunoco refinery

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA - March 17, 2011

The fire was first reported at around 4:10 p.m. along the 3000 block of Passyunk Avenue.

Philadelphia fire crews were called to the refinery in order to assist Sunoco crews in dousing the blaze, however, fire officials tell Action News their services were not needed.

The fire was declared under control at 4:32 p.m.

One worker, described only as a male, was transported by Philadelphia fire medics to Methodist Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

There is no word yet on what caused the fire.

No evacuations in the neighborhood have been deemed necessary.
