Nothing found in search for body of Bucks woman

CHELTENHAM, Pa. - March 20, 2011

Only Action News was there as the Greater Philadelphia Search and Rescue team and their canines canvassed Rock Lane Creek.

They were looking for the body of Diane Corado, 57, after a local newspaper reportedly received an anonymous tip to search near skating rinks in Abington Township.

That led them down the road to Old York Road Skating Club.

"There aren't a lot of skating rinks around so this is was of particular interest because of the convenience and the access to the waterway to the parking lot and the proximity to the skating rink," Mark Hopkins of Greater Philadelphia Search and Rescue said.

The Bucks County District Attorney's Office says Corado's ex-boyfriend Kenneth Patterson, 58, beat Corado with a pipe inside her Levittown apartment then kidnapped her back in December.

She hasn't been seen since.

Investigators believe the most recent tip is credible because sources say Patterson was seen in the area on surveillance camera the day of the abduction. The waterway is the main focus of the search.

"Something can be put in there and washed out a long time ago or because this is a very windy waterway, it could be caught up in a strainer and that's what we're looking for," Hopkins said.

Skating club manager Raoul Ignatz says since December there's been a strong stench emanating from the creek, but he's never thought anything of it until now.

Patterson has been charged with the murder and the DA says he will be seeking the death penalty even if a body is not found.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Monday.
