Playing with your food can get you sent to the principal's office.
"The faculty members will do whatever it takes to get the students excited about learning," said Principal Joseph Rodia.
Whatever is an understatement! The staff at Chesterbrook Academy Elementary School in West Chester is so serious about reading that they make it a sweet deal with the kids.
"For every 500 books that are read, a different faculty member agrees to get made into an ice cream sundae," explained Principal Rodia.
This year they went through 5,022 books.
That means the principal and nine teachers got decked out in their "sundae" best, in all their favorite flavors, chocolate, vanilla, and don't forget the chocolate sauce, caramel, and top it off with some sprinkles, whipped cream and cherries on top.
"I feel cold. I feel syrupy, and I feel like a big sundae" said Rodia.
First grade teacher Angie Scott has been on the sundae side of the ice cream scoop many times before.
"It is very sticky," said Angie, "you might find things in your ears for a couple of days. I just throw my clothes out at the end."
The students weighed in and enjoyed every minute of it. It seems they want to do it again next year.
Maybe next year they will read their way to a banana split.
