Phila. firefighters contain industrial fire in Port Richmond

PHILADELPHIA - March 26, 2011

Firefighters had their hands full Saturday night in Port Richmond.

Flames and smoke poured from an industrial building at Allegheny and Collins just after 6:00pm.

The fire ran to four alarms.

Some roofing materials were stored inside, and they added fuel to the flames.

"At this time, we have one minor firefighter injury. We have no evacuations of the area. The building was operated by Allegheny Real Estate. There were 10 businesses in the area; all small operations, one or two person operations," explained Deputy Fire Chief Michael Wahl.

It took firefighters a little more than two hours to get the fire under control.

Investigators will start probing for the cause when the ruins cool down.
