Brothers charged after body found in NJ woods

MAURICE RIVER TWP., N.J. - March 30, 2011

The body is that of 37-year-old Erving Harper of Millville and Maurice River Township, the prosecutor's office said on Wednesday.

Harper's body was found in a remote area off of Weatherby Rd. in Maurice River Twp. on Monday.

On Wednesday, police said 34-year-old Jason Moore, of Delmont, has been charged with murder. He had been in prison since February 5th on drug charges.

His brother, 30-year-old Lewis Moore of Cedarville, was arrested at his home.

Until his remains were recovered, Harper had been deemed "missing under suspicious circumstances" and had not been seen, nor had any communications with family or friends since January 20, 2011.

An autopsy conducted on Tuesday by the Cumberland County Medical Examiner's Office found evidence of gunshot wounds.

Police did not immediately release any motive in this killing.

The prosecutor says the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Ryan Breslin of the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office at 856-207-2738, or Detective Dan Coia of the New Jersey State Police at 609-273-1283.
