Phillies fans fired up for Cliff Lee's big win

PHILADELPHIA - April 2, 2011

Fans waited a year and a half to see the Cy Young winner back with the Phillies, and they weren't disappointed.

"I think we're going all the way," said Mike Dee. "Might as well give him the Cy Young now, why play the rest of the 160 games."

"I think it was really good, said Jake Amatucci. "I think he had to take a break because he pitched too much."

Needless to say the game on was at McFadden's at the ballpark. Fans were relieved to see Lee back in the Phillies uniform, adding he never should have been traded to begin with.

"Honestly, I cried. I was freaking out, I was so upset. But then we were so happy when we got him back, and it's the way it's supposed to be," said Karen Duffy.

Lee was gone, but it wasn't to be forever. His Philadelphia homecoming was made even sweeter to some since he turned down a bigger offer from the Yankees.

"The fact that he would take a loss for himself to prove the point the Phillies are number one is amazing," said Kelly Keane.

"I woke him up in the middle of the night screaming," said Jennifer Jarrell. "I thought maybe the house was on fire. But I was just so excited Cliff Lee was back."

"It was so cool that he came back here and took less money to come back. Very cool," said Jenny Blair.

The last time Lee pitched for the Phillies was back in 2009 Game 5 of the World Series. Now fans fired up for Saturday night, and hoping for an un-be-lievable season.

"This should be a great year," said John Petrucci. "Hopefully him and Halladay can both win 20 games for us this year."
