3 NJ Turnpike toll collectors accused of theft

CHERRY HILL, N.J. - April 7, 2011

The three are accused of pocketing the difference after substituting toll tickets collected between Interchanges 3 and 5 from motorists in south Jersey.

Turnpike officials believe the scheme netted $10,000 this year.

Turnpike Authority spokesman Tom Feeney told The Star-Ledger of Newark the men replaced actual toll tickets from northbound motorists with $1 tickets.

Feeney says an audit uncovered the scheme last month.

Veteran toll collectors William Fagan of Clementon, Glenn Huryan of Magnolia and John Filippine of Mansfield Township have been suspended and released on their own recognizance.
