A pair of Eagles are opening a nightclub

PHILADELPHIA - April 8, 2011

On the field, they're two Eagles who constantly like to raise the bar; off of it, they are now business partners trying to run one.

With the football season in limbo, Brent Celek and Todd Herremans, best friends, have opened their new joint venture, a sports bar and nightclub in Old City called 879.

"Outside of football I try to be a business man," says Brent Celek. "I'm always trying to make money. So this was something that kind of fell into our laps."

"We came across the guy that used to own it, and he was looking to get rid of it, so we got a good deal on it," explained Todd Herremans. "And it just something to do and have fun with it for awhile."

The name, a combination of their jersey numbers, 87 and 79.

When asked how they came up with the name, Herremans said, "I came up with the name one day."

"Really, I came up with the name, I promise," Celek countered.

Whoever came up with it, it's pretty clever, and the place is pretty cool.

The guys took us on a little tour of the new digs.

"The bottom part of 879 is the sports bar. We've got all kinds of TVs all around. Upstairs is the place on Friday's and Saturday nights that gets pretty good," said Celek.

"What we're doing throughout the night is playing classic movies that you can watch. The sound won't really be on because we have a D.J. with pretty good music, but it will be a good time," said Herremans.

They want you to know that 879 is open for business, and you can come down anytime.

But one thing you have to know is the #1 rule, "No lockout questions."

"Todd came up with the 'No Lockout questions' and put it up there," Celek said.

Jamie Apody was the first violator and was playfully asked to go.

Club 879 is located at 110 Chestnut Street in Old City Philadelphia, and there is a link to their website below.
