When pigs run wild

THOMPSON, Conn. (AP) - April 14, 2011

Wild pigs are tearing up the athletic fields at a school complex in Thompson, Connecticut.

A groundskeeper spotted what he thought was a black bear.

Then the man saw the tusks on the wild boar, which he figures weighed more than 200 pounds.

Other people have spotted a second pig, thought to be female.

At first state officials had trouble believing the reports, because wild pigs are so rare in Connecticut.

Then officials saw the pictures.

School district officials hope the state can capture them and send the pigs packing.
