Police: Pa. teen pulled own teeth, dad charged

EASTON, Pa. - April 20, 2011

The father, 41-year-old Francisco Torres, was arraigned Tuesday on endangerment charges. Investigators say he had insurance that would have covered his son's dental care.

Police say shards of his son's teeth had to be removed and his gums repaired in February after the boy tried to relieve his ongoing dental pain himself.

Easton police say the teen had complained about dental pain for six months before pulling the teeth himself in January. Authorities say Torres refused to get him help even after pain and bleeding persisted.

Torres was released on bail. A phone number listed under his name was not in service Wednesday.
