NJ health officials warn of measles

TRENTON, N.J. - April 21, 2011

The Health and Senior Services Department is recommending anyone who was at the Eppes Essen restaurant in Livingston on Sunday, April 10, between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., to contract their doctors.

Officials say two young women from France who were not vaccinated against measles attended a party at the restaurant during that time period. Officials say the two began developing symptoms three days later and sought medical treatment at Saint Clare's Hospital in Denville.

Patrons who haven't been vaccinated or haven't had measles are at risk.

Officials say measles can cause serious medical complications, such as pneumonia and encephalitis, in 20 percent of patients.
