Revel, unions sign labor peace deal for casino

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) - April 21, 2011

Revel Entertainment Group, construction manager Tishman Construction and the South Jersey Building and Construction Trades Council said Tuesday they have signed a pact guaranteeing labor peace for the project.

The council represents 22 labor unions and about 40,000 workers.

Under the pact, Revel will hire construction workers who are recommended by local unions. In return, the unions have agreed not to strike or stage any work stoppages if there are disputes with Revel.

About 1,800 workers are on the job now, with about 700 more expected later.

The casino is due to open in mid-2012.
