Homeowner, 2 firefighters hurt in Bucks Co. blaze

BENSALEM, Pa. - April 22, 2011

Rescuers were called to 5113 Hunters Court shortly before 1:00 p.m.

Police say the homeowner, a 39-year-old man, ran back into the house to save his dog and was found motionless on the kitchen floor.

He was taken to Temple Burn Center for severe smoke inhalation.

While fighting the fire Newport Firefighter Kevin Kozel was injured and suffered 1st and 2nd degree burns to his shoulders, forearms and ears. He is currently at Aria Torresdale Hospital and is expected to recover.

A second firefighter, Thomas McCool from the Newport Fire Company, was taken to lower bucks for minor burns to his neck.

Two adjoining homes sustained smoke damage but everyone got out safe.

There is no word yet on how this fire started.
